Most days the weather forecast is only a rumor.

The real story is what the sky does once you get there.

I went storm chasing in Arizona last month and watched the clouds move like they had a destination. They stacked, stretched, darkened, and then opened up into the kind of light photographers wait months for. Lightning arrived in bursts. The landscape kept changing under it. From start to finish, it was a photographer’s delight.

The new video is called Clouds on the March.

I shot it with the Nikon Z9, the Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S, and the Nikkor Z 28-400mm, using the camera’s internal intervalometer and a Bolt Hunter trigger. The gear mattered. Being willing to move quickly with the weather mattered more.
