We are in March and as I write this, it's 7 degrees F; still freaking freezing here in New England, but the formal countdown to the vernal equinox has begun!

March also means its time to book reasonably priced lodging in Bar Harbor. If you are thinking of joining us for the Milky Way in Acadia NP Photo Tour, keep this in mind. The more affordable rooms get wiped out early!

Acadia National Park is one of my favorite places to photograph the Milky Way. The skies are dark, and the foregrounds are dramatic. Tall pines and rugged shorelines are the trademark of DownEast Maine, and in Acadia National Park, they are on steroids.

We’ll be photographing in and around Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island. This national park is a photographer's candy store. Beauty is everywhere you look, so come along for a photo tour through the alluring landscapes of picturesque New England.

Are we only chasing stars on this tour? Not quite. Reflections, intentional camera movement (ICM), botanical gardens, elusive owls, and more await.

Some of you requested flexible dates; you can now pick either a 5-day, 4-night tour or a 3-day, 2-night tour.

There are a few spots remaining.

Here are a few captures from past tours.

Dates: June 12-17, 2026

Following the tour, we will have an online post-processing session and image review.
All photographers, from beginners to pros, are welcome.

If you have questions about gear, timing, or whether this tour is a good fit for you, reply to this email. I’m happy to help.
