September brings in drier, cooler air, trees changing color, and the emergence of winter deep space objects, like Andromeda and the Pleiades. Just in time for the winter celestial jewels, a new (free) tool has emerged from the astrophotography world, and I have to say, it's about time. I have been reluctant to instruct folks on post-processing deep space objects because of the tools that have been available. To be clear, they are powerful - but can be very difficult to use for those starting their astrophotography journey. To celebrate the arrival of AstroWizard, a free webinar is in the works to demonstrate how to stack deep space images and post-process them using this fantastic software. The date will be announced soon!

We just wrapped up the second Cape Cod Lighthouse Crawl of 2026, and it was a blast! Starry skies and majestic lighthouses - a combo that just elates! The September event offers up a spectacular vertical Milky Way. Next year, we are expanding both the spring and autumn tours to three nights. Registration is open and the spots for the May event are filling up. In case you aren't aware, non-photographing spouses and significant others are welcome to join you for free. Cape Cod Lighthouse Crawl. We will visit quintessential Massachusetts lighthouses, in areas with beautiful beaches and dunes. This tour is all about Outer Cape lights: Highland, Nauset, Chatham, and the Three Sisters. Three nights in early May, when the Milky Way core rises before midnight. We chase clear skies for astrolandscapes and use fog, long exposures, and ICM when they aren’t. Small group of eight.
