Night School
Free live webinar
StackingWizard + AstroWizard post-processing
Night School AstroWizard Processing Webinar is a free live session for anyone sitting on a folder of subs — Seestar, Dwarf, ASIAIR, OSC, or an already-stacked FITS, TIFF, or XISF — and wanting a calmer way to finish it.
We’ll stack the night in StackingWizard: point it at the folder, watch lights, darks, flats and bias sort themselves, grade the weak frames, and save a master you can trust. Then we hand that stack to AstroWizard and walk the nine steps in order — crop, flatten the gradient, balance colour, sharpen, denoise, stretch, polish, and export — one obvious button at a time, with undo the whole way.
Is this webinar for you?
- If you have used PixInsight, Siril or any other astrophotography software with frustration.
- You are a seasoned astrophotographer and no longer want spend time or have time to dedicate to post-process your stacks.
- You are starting deep space photography with a camera and lens, know how to stack your frames, and don’t know how to start, or are frustrated the next step.
- You are a photographer and are interested in learning more about astrophotography post-processing in general.
- You have a smart telescope or OSC rig and a night of FITS sitting on disk.
- You’ve stacked in Siril, DSS, ASTAP, Sequator, or the smartscope’s manufacturer app, and then stalled on processing.
- PixInsight. Siril, or a wall of sliders still feels like too much software for the photo you wanted.
- You want a straightforward, guided path that still leaves you in control.
What to have ready
Optional but useful: a folder of lights (darks/flats if you have them), or one already-stacked image. AstroWizard works with Windows, Mac, or Linux. Download both tools beforehand from astrowizard.lukomatico.com so we can move at session speed.
From a folder of subs to a finished astrophoto — without the usual maze.
A live walkthrough of stacking your night with StackingWizard, then taking that master through AstroWizard’s nine guided steps to reveal the deep sky jewel you captured.

What you’ll leave able to do:
1. Stack the night
Point StackingWizard at the folder. Watch lights, darks, flats and bias sort themselves, grade the weak frames, and build a master you can trust.
2. Hand off cleanly
Save the stack and send it straight into AstroWizard — including multi-night combines and mono filter sets when that’s what you shot.
3. Finish in nine steps
Crop, flatten the gradient, balance colour, sharpen, denoise, stretch, polish, and export — one obvious button at a time, with undo the whole way.
We will discuss:
- The messy folder problem
- Why stacking feels harder than it is, and what the wizard actually decides for you.
- Live stack: from pile to master
- Sorting, grading, alignment, rejection, and reading the receipt so you know what survived.
- The handoff into AstroWizard
- FITS / TIFF / XISF, Seestar & Dwarf quirks, and when to combine nights.
- The nine-step finish
- Gradient, colour, sharpen, noise, the Big Stretch, star work, and a shareable export.
Questions before you register
Is it really free?
Yes. The product is priced at $0. You still “check out” so we have your name and email for the join link and reminders.
Do I need paid plugins like BlurXTerminator?
No. We’ll stay on the free path (GraXpert, StarNet2, and AstroWizard’s built-in tools), but we’ll demonstrate paid RC-Astro options since you can use them for free for 30 days.
Will there be a recording?
Yes — a replay link is emailed after the session.
What if I only have a smart telescope?
No problem. Seestar, Dwarf, Unistellar, or other smart telescopes that save FITS files can also benefit by processing yourself. Download the folders containing the subs and stack them in StackingWizard, then finish in AstroWizard like any other stack.
